Hedva Ferenci, Audition, Signed Serigraph
This beautiful 28”x36” serigraph of a ballet scene is signed in pencil and numbered in an edition of 380 examples. Domestic shipping-$20, International depends upon location. Hedva Ferenci draws her inspiration from life itself. This is what gives her work its tremendous power and penetration. She has no need to search for a direction in which to develop her art. She discovered for herself the simplest form in which she can make a positive statement, and what is more, to make it in such a way that it can be understood by everyone. This is the great secret of her art – her “language” is so universally comprehensible and expressively powerful that it captures the imagination of all those who are sincere, and young in mind and heart. Hedva Ferenci does not portray motives. Her figures are not imitative puppets or phantoms, she depicts life in all of its actuality. There is not a line of her work which fails to make its comment, which does not cry aloud and indict a laugh and make one enjoy.

Mel Hunter, Columbia Heading Out, Signed Lithograph
Hand drawn, stone lithograph of the tall ship Columbia released in 1973. 21x35 inches, signed in pencil and numbered 157/350. Domestic shipping-$20, International depends upon location. Mel Hunter was born in Oak Park, Illinois and grew up in the mid-west of the thirties. In 1953, he talked his way into his first paid job as an artist-illustrator at the top of the pay scale at Northrop Aircraft. For nine months, he painted astronomically correct starry backgrounds for the Snark missile program by day and paintings of imaginative expeditions to Mars and other far off places by night. In nine months, enough of these nocturnal flights of artistic fancy were selling to the booming Science Fiction magazines of the period to form the basis for free-lance freedom. From that day until August 1967, Mel Hunter turned out many hundreds of major science and technology related paintings for Life, Newsweek, Time-Life Books, National Geographic, Encyclopedia Americana, North American Aviation, Douglas, Convair, USAF, NASA and many others. During this period, he became perhaps the main painter of subjects relating to science and the budding space exploration program. At the peak of his career in 1967, he came to the realization that emphasis on science and technology had grown out of all proportion to the thought devoted to the rest of our daily lives and to the needs of the environment. Nobody in the art world, except for Andrew Wyeth, was speaking for our shrinking rural countryside, our diminishing clean air and water, and vanishing wildlife. So he came to Vermont to draw and paint the land and its wildlife and to write and illustrate books for children on what nature and the Earth are really all about. In the ensuing five years, his paintings and drawings have sold to many collectors. More than two hundred original watercolors and oils of birds have sold through the galleries of Abercrombie & Fitch in New York and the Massachusetts Audubon Society. Mel Hunter passed away in 2004.

She is continually seeking new means of expression and unusual contextual combinations and forms. Throughout her work, certain characteristics and motifs recur: a rich palette, ornamentation with a pronounced Eastern nuance, and the figure of a woman. That woman embodies beauty, happiness, sensuality, fertility as well as confidence, calm and control. With strong hues of red, green, turquoise and gold combining ancient and modern cultures, Bracha Guy creates a festive atmosphere, reflecting her optimism about life. The ornateness of her paintings, with their abundant convolutions, generate a warm atmosphere of cushioning and flattering charm. Contemplating her works, the spectator is enthusiastically and movingly drawn into the beauty of the astonishing world mirrored there. Instead of a calculated plan, Guy's works are a release of feeling through color and form. She does not paint from sketches, rather , from the moment she holds a brush in her hand, color takes charge.

Dima Gorban, Afternoon Enchantment, Signed Serigraph
Afternoon Enchantment is a hand drawn, photo realistic 27”x31” serigraph signed in pencil by the artist and numbered in an edition of 495 examples. Domestic shipping-$20, International depends upon location. Dima Gorban was born in the former Soviet Union in 1961, and moved to Kishinev with his family when he was three. He started art studies at age ten at the Kishinev School of Art, and received an award for being the most promising young artist in the school. In 1980 Dima completed his studies at the Higher School for the Painting Arts in Kishinev, and began showing his work at group exhibitions throughout Moldavia. He quickly reached Moscow as well, and two of his sketches were on permanent exhibit in the Drawing Department of the Moscow Film Academy. He finished his formal studies in 1989 at the Lvov Academy for Painting, which his brother also attended. Dima’s exposure to the world of wine was launched when he was still a child, thanks to his late grandfather, who grew grapes in the spacious yard of their Kishinev home and made wine for home use. A culture of wine was instilled in the entire family, and Dima loved helping his grandfather in all the tasks involved. Having worked with wine as a child, and being a talented graphic designer as an adult, were a great asset for Dima when he was assigned to design labels for the Ackerman Winery in Russia. That period was also when he started his ongoing series of wine paintings.

His first one-man show was sponsored by the Chilean Ambassador at the Maison de L’Amerique Latin in 1961. The late Queen Victoria Eugenia of Spain sponsored his second show in Lausanne, Switzerland in 1962. Showing in galleries in the Faubourg St. Honore and the Salon de la Jeune Peinture. Novoa completed his Parisian background, but by 1965, he had become an adoptive “New Yorker”. His one-man shows in New York, Paris, Palm Beach and Beverly Hills established him as a champion of ecology and wildlife preservation. His animals were primitive and painted in lush and colorful backgrounds. In 1977, the publication of his book Jungle Fables, for which he wrote the text and executed the paintings, was a collection of rhymes on “vice and virtue” that gave a new dimension to his animals, making them more anthropomorphic and philosophical.

Bracha Guy, Meeting Katherine, Signed Serigraph
A large format 32”x48” original serigraph by one of Israel’s most popular contemporary artists. Beautifully printed in Tel Aviv by one of the finest serigraph printers in the world today. Subject is the artist meeting Katherine Hepburn. Released in the mid 90’s. Signed in pencil and numbered in an edition of 295 with 30 Artist Proofs. Domestic shipping-$20, International depends upon location. Bracha Guy is an artist whose creative impulse is rarely at rest. As the artist herself puts it, "I have a yearning to cover the world with beauty, to create and infuse it with life. Transforming the figure of a woman into a creative work is a kind of dream, an idea or fantasy, like rolling a stone from the top of a mountain and seeing where it goes".

Bracha Guy is an artist whose creative impulse is rarely at rest. As the artist herself puts it, "I have a yearning to cover the world with beauty, to create and infuse it with life. Transforming the figure of a woman into a creative work is a kind of dream, an idea or fantasy, like rolling a stone from the top of a mountain and seeing where it goes".

Mel Hunter, Morgan, Signed Lithograph
Hand drawn, stone lithograph from the “Horses” Portfolio by Mel Hunter published in 1973. This lithograph is 22” x 30” and is signed in pencil and numbered in an edition of 500. Printed on Arches paper.
